Project Overview

The Guildhall in Kingston upon Hull is a distinguished Grade II* listed building, serving as the civic headquarters of Hull City Council. Renowned for its Baroque Revival architecture and rich historical significance, the building has welcomed dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Sir Winston Churchill, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Used regularly for civil ceremonies, formal dinners, and conferences, the Guildhall’s appearance is key to preserving its heritage and maintaining a prestigious, welcoming environment for both visitors and staff.

What We Did

Kingston Cleaning Services was appointed to carry out high-level external window cleaning across the grand façade of the Guildhall, a task that played a vital role in preserving the visual clarity of its large and decorative windows. This specialist work helped prevent the accumulation of dirt and airborne pollutants on the building’s fragile, historic glasswork, while also enhancing natural light penetration to illuminate the marble and oak interiors within.

Given the Guildhall’s height and intricate architectural detailing, our operatives used advanced water-fed pole systems to safely and effectively reach upper levels, eliminating the need for powered access and minimising disruption in this busy civic location. The result is not only cleaner windows that highlight the building’s original features, but also improved energy efficiency and a more welcoming atmosphere.
