Project Overview
Kingston Cleaning Services was contracted by Mitie to carry out specialist cleaning of Sarnafil roofing systems across five secondary schools in Leeds. The works were scheduled to take place during normal daytime hours, requiring close coordination with each school to ensure minimal disruption to students and staff. With each site featuring different roof layouts and access considerations, the project required careful planning, adherence to safety procedures, and a tailored approach to ensure the roof membranes were cleaned effectively and safely.
What We Did
The team carried out a full clean of the Sarnafil roofing systems using soft-washing techniques and specialist cleaning solutions. This helped restore the original performance of the roof membranes, which had become impacted by dirt, moss, and environmental staining. A clean surface improves waterproofing and UV reflectivity, reduces the risk of blocked drainage points, and prevents algae or moss from affecting long-term performance.
Regular cleaning helps maintain the roof’s energy efficiency and extends its service life, while also supporting manufacturer warranty requirements. The completed works also contributed to the aesthetic presentation of the schools, with visibly cleaner surfaces that are safer for ongoing maintenance.
